Want to grow some plants but feel unsure whether you can keep them alive? If you’ve had bad luck in the past when attempting to flex your green thumb, don’t be discouraged. There are a ton of indoor plants for beginners that are easy to grow and nurture. And they don’t require a whole lot of TLC! Here are some easy plants to try if you’re eager to add some greenery to your home.
Snake Plant
You’ve likely seen this houseplant in many showrooms before. Its vibrant green and vertical leaves make it a stunning addition to any area of the home. Best of all, these plants are actually difficult to kill. They only need a little bit of sunlight and an occasional dose of water. They’re also ideal for filtering out toxins in your home.
Spider Plant
Another hardy indoor plant to try is the spider plant. This popular one is very resilient, which means if you forget to water it for a few days, you shouldn’t have a problem. If you have an area that’s nice and bright, place it there and water it only enough to keep the soil slightly moist. Then just watch it grow!
English Ivy
English Ivy looks great on top of a shelf or cabinet as its long, dainty leaves flow down to add some rich colour. Similar to the spider plant, it’s easy to keep alive but prefers a brighter spot with indirect light. The only thing it’s a bit picky on is the pot. Make sure you place it in one that is shallow but wide enough to let it grow.
Succulents
If you have a tendency to forget to water plants or if you go away for a few days without someone to care for them, then succulents might be a good option for you. These adaptable plants just need well-drained soil, lots of light and only a bit of water every few days.
Jade Plant
This plant is part of the succulent family is very pretty as it grows. It can grow to the size of a small shrub so give it lots of room. It prefers indirect, partial light and infrequent watering too.
ZZ Plant
Another tall houseplant that will add a splash of colour to a bare corner is the ZZ plant. This one is very tough and grows best in indirect sun and soil that can drain properly.
