Whether you live in Orleans, Kanata or anywhere in-between, Canada’s Capital is the place to be when seeking fresh fruits and veggies. There are all sorts of great local shops and vendors, and many of them work with farmers from the area to bring their produce to residents in town. Today, let’s explore some can’t-miss farmers’ markets in the Ottawa area!
Beechwood Farmers’ Market
Traditionally, this friendly community get-together is held in front of the St. Charles church, but with a massive condo and retail development underway to bring the abandoned building back to life, the Beechwood Farmers’ Market has moved in recent years. You can now find it tucked behind Fire Station 57 in beautiful Optimiste Park. Enjoy locally baked goodies, fresh vegetables and fruit, live music performances, plenty of dogs to pet, children’s activities, and more! The park also has a pool that is open in nicer seasons, making for a fun morning out for all. This market is really one of the best in town, and it runs every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm, June 1st to October 26th.
